Q: Do I have to use a certain type of flag with my Banner Chimes music flagpole?

A: Most any banner or flag will work with the Banner Chimes, provided that it is 3 feet wide or less. Fabrics must also have either a sleeved top edge that will fit over a 1-1/4 diameter pole, or grommets. It is highly recommended that flags with thin fabric material use the Flexi-Clip.

Q: What is the purpose of the steel clip hardware?

A: When connected to the flag the clip hardware provides the leverage needed to move the clear sleeves around the pole. The clip  hardware is designed to hold the flag in such a way that the decorative design of the flag is not obscured, and such that the flag is not damaged.

Q:  Does the Banner Chimes stay in tune?

A: Any stringed instrument tuning will shift over time. However, because the Banner Chimes’ strings are stretched across an aluminum frame, they are not susceptible to humidity changes the way wooden instruments are. The result is that the tones of the Banner Chimes usually stay in pretty good relative tune to each other, though they will generally be flatter in pitch over time.

Q:  Can the Banner Chimes be left outside in bad weather?

A:  Every attempt has been made to protect the most crucial parts of the Banner Chimes from outdoor conditions. The strings and strike mechanism are fully enclosed inside the pole. Also, materials such as the aluminum pole, the steel clips, the clear sleeves, and the waterproof labels all do well outside. However, the clip hardware will oxidize quicker than the pole. Also, as you would expect, ice may bind the rotation of the sleeves. Extreme weather changes and especially freezing conditions will affect the tuning and function of the striking mechanism. When you think about it, though, is anyone going to be outside to enjoy the Banner Chimes in bad weather? So, use your Banner Chimes wisely by storing it inside during these conditions for longer life.

A:  No. You can assemble the Banner Chimes in 5 minutes or less.

Q:  Do I need extra hardware for my Banner Chimes music flagpole?

A:  You will need to have a 1” metal bracket for holding the end of the flagpole. A plastic bracket will not be strong enough to support the weight of the Banner Chimes music flagpole. Also it is highly recommended for light weight fabric flags to purchase our Flexi-Clips.
